Raglan Naturally Community Trust has supported the establishment of the Whāingaroa Community Response Group (WCRG). The WCRG is a community-led volunteer group established to support the community before, during and after an emergency event.

supporting our community in an emergency

A community welfare response.

Raglan Naturally Community Trust has supported the establishment of the Whāingaroa Community Response Group.

Local Civil Defence Community Response Groups are volunteer networks established to help communities coordinate and provide support before, during and after an emergency.

In 2025 there was a great community response to the call out for volunteers to participate. Supported with specialist advice from Waikato District Council Emergency Management Team, the WCRG has secured a home base and basic resources – including a generator, hand-held radios, and emergency resource wheelie bins.

Well prepared, the WCRG is able to activate and manage a community welfare response for 3 days – a place to get information and reassurance, have a hot drink and something to eat, charge phones and get warm.

The WCRG also have a longer term aim of helping the community become self-prepared and resilient.

Raglan Naturally Community Trust played an important role in the start-up phase of Raglan Refill. Opening its doors in March 2024, Raglan Refill is the newest social enterprise on the block in Raglan - a community-led, non-profit, zero-waste grocery.
Raglan Naturally Community Trust partnered with the Whāingaroa Raglan Destination Management Organisation (WRDMO) to transform and restore the town's iconic water reservoir tower.
Volunteers don’t just donate their time - they build relationships, share knowledge, and bring energy, skills, manaaki and aroha. With more than 65 local organisations relying on volunteers, they are the beating heart of Whāingaroa Raglan. Raglan Naturally Community Trust brings our volunteer community together to celebrate the amazing mahi they do.

We would love to hear from you.
