Whāingaroa is made up of a number of smaller communities that encompass both the urban and rural areas of the rohe. We are lucky to have a mix of passionate locals and community organisations that are doing it for themselves and championing community values through their mahi.

Xtreme Zero Waste

Xtreme Zero Waste is a community enterprise using business as a tool to meet the needs of our community.XZW is contracted by Waikato District Council to operate the Raglan Resource Recovery Centre, which gives our community opportunities to access their resources.

Whāingaroa Environment Centre

A hub for community environmental initiatives in Raglan. They have a range of information displayed on local environmental issues, promote environmentally sustainable practices in our community and deliver environmental education programmes and workshops.

The Raglan Community House coordinates activities and provides services to our community. We have a wide network of regional and local service providers and endeavour to link people in our community to the services they need.

Community arts and events in Raglan Whāingaroa. With exhibitions, concerts, monthly market, community clay shed, films and creative workshops the Old School is a busy place, offering a great deal to both visitors and the local community.

Raglan Local Energy is a self-service online electricity retailer which provides an easy way for the Raglan Whāingaroa community to buy and sell clean, local energy.

Raglan Area School

Raglan Area School is a small yet ‘big hearted’ rural school that ‘celebrates education in a bi-cultural environment’. RAS is an area school (composite school) and provides for more than 570 students aged 5 to 19 years.
