Strengthening our voice in local government

Make sure our unique community voice is preserved and strengthened in local government. Sunday 28th June, 2-4pm, Raglan Town Hall

Want to make sure our unique community voice is preserved and strengthened in local government?

Right now, most parts of the country have two councils — a regional council (which looks after things like environmental management, public transport planning and flood protection) and a district or city council (which looks after roads, water, rubbish, libraries, parks and consents).

The government is changing how our local councils are organised.

The Head Start pathway is a voluntary, faster option that lets councils that are ready put forward a proposal to government.

Learn more about what is happening and help to shape the pathways forward which are meaningful for our community in Whāingaroa.

When: Sunday 28th June
Time: 2-4pm
Where: Raglan Town Hall

Guest speakers include:
Penny Hulse – community activator who campaigned to have community voice retained in the Auckland Super City.

Mayor Aksel Bech – as Mayor of Waikato District Council, Aksel is leading the push to develop options which will make sense to our communities.
