The Yard Mentoring Rangatahi in the workplace
On the final day of Term 2, a group of Year 11 R.A.S. students went on an exciting trip to a local café ‘The Yard’. The café became a classroom for the day, giving the students a hands-on experience working in a cafe.
This opportunity was offered by the café’s owners, Brian Ruawai and Naomi Tuaopepe, who were nice enough to share their knowledge and space with the students. The students were taught by a fellow student Coco Solomon-Banks how to make a variety of delicious coffees. After all the student’s hard work Brian and Naomi generously treated them to their breakfast burger and a drink of their choice. We are very grateful to the Whaingaroa Youthwork Collective for funding this opportunity.
