Whaingaroa Raglan Water Tower Mural Project

Whaingaroa Raglan Destination Management Organisation (WRDMO) is spearheading the restoration of the Whaingaroa Raglan Water Tower mural as a community-led project. An advisory panel was established in April, comprising six community members representing local hapū, artists, and youth.

A call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from artists across the motu resulted in 17 submissions. Five artists have been selected to proceed to the next stage, which involves developing Detailed Design Concepts, as well as Health & Safety, Environmental, and Methodology plans for the mural. The final artist selection process is nearing completion, and we’re excited to officially announce the winning artist soon. The water tower mural project, supported by Raglan Naturally and funded by the Department of Internal Affairs, will soon enter its next phase.

This includes enhancing the surrounding open space with planting and signage, ensuring this iconic landmark at the entrance to Raglan becomes a source of pride for our community.
